Manjula Ramachandran

Manjula Ramachandran ( Officially-Manjula Mani-Dharmarajan) is a South Indian Classical

(Carnatic) Vocalist and Veena player from South India.  As a vocalist, she is well known for her deep knowledge of handling the Indian Ragas and Taalas (Rhythms), composing in rare ragas,  improvisational skills, and her classical bass voice.  As a Veena Player, she is well known for her Gayaki (singing) style of playing, fingering technics, and ability to engage the listener with high tonal quality.

 

Manjula has been practicing Indian Carnatic Classical music for 40 yrs. Through her interest in music, she graduated with a 4-year Music Diploma in Carnatic Music from the prestigious institution Sree Swathi Thirunal Music College with a state-level first ranking. Being born and brought up in India, at a young age she has been awarded and has won:

​

  • Centre for Cultural Research Talent Scholarship for 8 yrs from President of India.

  • Government of India, Department of Culture for young musician Scholarship for 2 yrs.

  • All India Radio- India Government Broadcasting Radio National Music Award with a music gradation.

  • Won Inter-University National Level Music competitions.

  • Prestigious Kerala Sangeetha Natak Academy award for scoring highest grade in state level classical music graduate exams.

  • Invited to perform on Government Radio channels and private TV channels to do live classical music shows and concerts. Her Asianet TV Morning show - Raaga Parichayam was one of her famous shows watched throughout Asia.

 

Currently, living in USA for the past 23 yrs, she has been actively involved in teaching, performing, and recording. To impart her knowledge of highly traditional classical music, she started Mangalaisai Arts LLC where she groomed so many young musicians who have sung in movies, created their own music bands and are popular in social media. 

 

 As a performing artist, she has been invited to concerts /guest artists at:

  • Released a CD of meditation sponsored by Chinmaya Mission - BRAHMA TATWA MASI where she was featured composer, vocalist and as a veena player

  • Cleveland State University's Tyagaraja Aradhana concert

  • Live Radio Episodes at EBC Radio and Rutgers University (2006)

  • Records for Jagati Kriti Youtube Channel

  • Visionary award as best music teacher from AIM

  • Honarary Concert from CMANA 

  • Special guest of honor concert from TFAS

  • Lead vocalist for more than 35+ concerts for Indian Classical dance productions and have worked with eminent dancers and musicians.
