Kevin Sluder is an orchestra director in Frisco, TX.  Since 2007, he has taught at both the middle and high school levels. His orchestras have received numerous accolades, including being recently named the 2024 TMEA Honor MS Full Orchestra and a 2023 Mark of Excellence National Winner.  He is a frequent clinician for both students and professionals, and loves finding creative ways to engage his students.

Mr. Sluder has a background in jazz, concert band, marching drumline, rock and electronic music, as well as string orchestra.  This eclectic musical background drives his writing.  He firmly believes that a variety of styles should influence music for students, so that everyone can find something to connect to and enjoy.  Mr. Sluder strives to make music that is exciting and accessible for students, and creates pieces that are both excellent for teaching various techniques, as well as fun to perform.

In addition to composing and arranging for orchestra, Mr. Sluder enjoys songwriting, recording his own music, getting lost in video games, camping, and co-hosting the string education podcast Rite of String.
